Wedding in Guatemala | Callan & Mark

Callen and Mark celebrated their wedding in Antigua Guatemala with all their friends and family. Besides capturing their day, I also styled their looks and their wedding. Not only do you get to see their beautiful day, but you also get to see my styling and how it all came together.

The day before the wedding we did a photo session around the city and then welcomed all their friends and family at their welcome dinner. Callen’s  attire was Rat and Boa and it was a perfect fit for running around the city of Antigua.

Before heading to the welcome dinner, we took photos at the iconic La Ermita.

Welten was the perfect intimate setting for Callen and Mark’s welcome dinner.

Callen and Mark’s wedding was originally supposed to be the previous year, but got delayed due to COVID. Because they didn’t want to wait any longer, they ended up eloping on their original date in Aspen and then had their Guatemala wedding on their one year anniversary. For them, being married already, was the best thing that happened for them for their wedding because it empowered them to be less formal, more playful, and more themselves within the wedding. They wanted a fun, colorful, and visually stunning setting that allowed them to celebrate with all their friends and family. And they got just that. With the help of Saguzo Eventos and my styling we were able to create the wedding of their dreams.

Callen’s Zimermann wedding dress fit the scenery of Antigua perfectly. I showed Callen a photo of it and she immediately knew it was the dress for her!

Mark wore a dark green suit with flecks of deep blue and it was paired with a plain white shirt and Sid Mashburn monk strap shoes and pocket square.

These two loved their first look because they were able to then spend the whole day together.

Callen’s bouquet by Bea de la Roca consisted of the Guatemalan jade flower, fuscia orchids, and begonia maculata.

For the bridal parties’ attire we took a big risk that paid off extraordinarily well. For the bridesmaids we chose two different style dresses and the groomsmen wore beige linen suits. The whole look couldn’t have been better.

Callen and Mark chose the patio at Porta to have their ceremony because it has the most beautiful view of San Josè el Viejo, one of the most recognized ruins in Antigua. Also during the ceremony they stood on a custom rug designed by Jess Bercovici of Stela 9 and made by local Guatemalan artisans. It now hangs in their house in Atlanta and is a reminder of their day.

Since Callen and Mark had eloped the previous year they decided to write their own vows as a reflection of their first year of marriage. They talked about everything they had learned and how to move forward with one another as even better partners.

La Recolección speaks for it itself. Callen and Mark said, “We chose to have our reception here because it is one of the most stunning settings we have ever been in. Also by not being a popular wedding venue it felt fresh and was full of untapped potential for Brogen’s styling. ”

One of their favorite moments of the day was the reception venue first look because they got to see the venue for the first time, completely decorated, before anybody else arrived. They got to sit down, have a drink, and soak it all in before the partying began.

Rather than having a typical square dance floor, we decided to go with a white circular floor. It was a favorite detail of ours because it was so unique and the perfect size for 60 people to dance the night away.

Callen and Mark’s first dance song was Beyond by Leon Bridges.
